A Mother's Legacy: Passing Down Faith and Values to Future Generations

A Mother's Legacy: Passing Down Faith and Values to Future Generations

When it comes to building strong families, each individual role contributes in a unique way, and today, we want to dive into the role of a mother specifically. As part of the parenting core of a family, a mother holds unique ways to shape the next generation’s foundation for spiritual and moral growth. Whether a working mom to an empty-nester, your role as mother can have an impact at all stages of life.

The Influence of Mothers

Within the family dynamic, mothers hold a unique position. As nurturers, they are part of the deep, intentional work to bring values that are instilled to life. From the earliest moments of infancy to the milestones of adulthood, a mother's actions, words, and beliefs steadily and faithfully tend the seeds that have been planted. While there certainly will be mountain-top moments of celebration, much of the impact is about what has been faithfully nurtured and cultivated for years. It's a deep, consistent investment.

Building Legacy as a Mother

As you strive to impart faith and values to your children, this intentional investment often simply starts with consistency. Especially in this busy digital age where there is constantly a new thing to try, it is ok to take the opposite path. Choose what you will cultivate and stay consistent. Choose your core values and pick the ways you can implement them with the unique voice and ability God has given you. This is where you build the foundation of a lasting legacy.

The Big Picture

What you sow now is for a future harvest for generations to come. As a mother, you play an important part in what that harvest will look like. It is a significant responsibility but also a significant place for joy as you lead your children to the Gospel and what a life in Christ looks like. When you are feeling discouraged or unsure if what you are doing matters, keep that multi-generational perspective in mind. You might not see the fruit today, but it will come in due time.
