Download this resource for a template to set goals as a family. You can use this to set annual direction or even just as regular planning throughout your month.
How to use it:
- Set a goal using the SMART principles. It should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. (For example, Our family wants to identify 5 new charities to consider for giving by November.)
- Add the next steps you will need to take to accomplish this goal. (For example, set a family meeting to discuss charity criteria. Assign research tasks to family members. Set meeting to report on research.)
- Add how this goal connects to your values, vision, or mission statements. This is a helpful reminder for why you are working on it and to keep family unified.
- Bring the goals sheet to your family meetings so you can regularly review progress and next steps.
As you step into the process of planning and casting vision as a family, work on identifying the rhythms you all need to set goals. What is the right frequency? How can it become a process to help bring generations together? Look for opportunities to teach and to empower.
